Books I’ll Probably Never Read Tag

Thanks to Claire over at Cup of Books  has tagged me in this post and I’m very excited to think about it!

A REALLY HYPED BOOK YOU’RE NOT INTERESTED IN READING

Well, there are a couple of these. Don’t hate me if you think they’re fantastic!

Into-the-Water-1

the hate you give

I know, I know. What am I thinking. I can’t get behind Paula Hawkins. I was one of the 5 people in the world (it feels like) who hated “Girl on a Train” I found the character un-likeable to the extreme and really didn’t care what happened to her, only spent my time hoping she would just shut up and stop whining.

The Hate U Give is on my TBR list, and I just get a feeling it’s one of those reads that will just stay there. Everyone was raving about it so I thought… well, maybe. But, it’s one of those novels that whenever I go to choose my next read I look at it and think “I COULD read that…or, I could read something else.” And SOMETHING ELSE always wins…

A SERIES YOU WON’T START/WON’T BE FINISHING

Game of thrones

…I just. Can’t. Do it. I haven’t been able to get into the show, and the books are just so long and I’m so far behind that I just don’t think I can work up the kind of enthusiasm it would take to read all of them at this point.

A CLASSIC THAT YOU’RE JUST NOT INTERESTED IN?

Now…. this is a tough one. I have read A LOT of classics!!!

les miserables

Ok, now before you all start grabbing your pitchforks and torches… this one was chosen by default. It’s probably one of the only classics I could think of that I HAVEN’T read! If you can suggest another to test me than I’d love another suggestion because this is one that in my heart of hearts I would LIKE to get to it…. but, 1500 pages?!?! I COULD READ SO MANY OTHER BOOKS IN THAT TIME (says the girl working her way through the Outlander series… lol!) But, blogging I try to keep up on newer reads and investing that much time into something that’s been out for so long is just that, AN INVESTMENT!

ANY GENRES YOU NEVER READ?

Again… I may need some help with this one… I haven’t been blogging long, but those of you who have been following, or if you check out my Goodreads you will see that I dabble in pretty well everything… and I do mean EVERYTHING!! If anyone can suggest a genre I may have missed I’m all ears.. REALLY I’d actually love for someone to come up with something because I LOVE learning about new genres! (hence my forage into ‘Bizzaro’!)

A BOOK ON YOUR SHELVES YOU’LL PROBABLY NEVER ACTUALLY READ?

the host

I got this book at a Box Sale at a local Book Depot and thought ‘hey, it’s popular and people say it’s good! Maybe I’ll actually read it”  ….it’s been sitting on my shelf staring at me for probably about 4 years now…. I think that is its destiny.

I’m going to Tag in some of my fellow Book Lovers Now. If you’ve already answered these, or don’t want to answer it’s up to you! But, I found it very interesting!!

    1. Thank you!! I’m glad someone else is in my boat! Lol! And I also loved the Broadway show for Les Mis. (Although, I’m such a musical freak it’s hard for me to hate anything. Lol!) maybe someday I will actually read the book… Some 1500 page kind of day. Lol!!

    2. Well, it won’t let me reply to your comment about your favourite Broadway Film Adaptations for some reason, so I’m replying to this because I can’t leave that hanging!! I’d have to say that my favourites have to be “Hair” and “The Producers” …but, I’m sure I’ll think of about 8 more right after I post this! OH! “LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!!!!” Glad I remembered that one!! Lol!

  1. Definitely don’t bother trying to finish Game of Thrones. I read the whole thing before the television series started. The series didn’t match the books after book 1, and because the story had taken a different direction on TV, I heard that Martin isn’t going to finish the books anyway. You’ll be left hanging after reading 7,000 pages. Ugh. Other than that, I haven’t read any of your probably won’t reads. There are so many good books, it makes sense to focus on the ones that grab you and don’t let go. 🙂

    1. Thank you!! I completely agree! Too many books, too little time! Lol! And hearing about Martin not finishing the books is brutal! I’m glad I didn’t start them! I’m surprised he didn’t lose A LOT of fans with that decision!! It would be nice for him to finish the books a different way because it would give people a reason to enjoy both! If they were both exactly the same, the what’s the point??

      1. I usually like to read books before seeing them on the screen. So many years have passed since he wrote that last installment in the series, that I can’t remember the “written” story any more. I’m throwing up my hands and watching HBO. And maybe drinking.

  2. Ya I get avoiding the 1500 page book- that’s five other books you could read! I don’t think I have the attention span for that anymore!

  3. I haven’t finished a single book this past year, I am ashamed to say.
I spend far too much time blogging and watching films instead.
Thanks for following my blog, which is much appreciated.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. I’ve been having that problem recently! I haven’t posted a book review this week and I have A LOT of reviews to get out this month.. I guess it’s time to stop procrastinating. Lol! And I loved you short story over at by hook or by book, so it was a pleasure to follow you! Keep up the wonderful writing! 😁

  4. I am with, Girl on the Train was depressing and Game of Thrones – love the show but I couldn’t get through the books. I even tried the audio books. I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a list of books that you have no interest in reading.

    1. Thanks for making me feel better about my choices! Lol! I’ve heard that Gearoge R Martin isn’t continuing the books and is just going to put the ending in the show, so if that’s true, I’m REALLY glad I didn’t start them! I’m glad you checked this out!
