We all wear masks, and Afton Morrison is no exception.

A small-town librarian with a dark side, Afton, twenty-six, has suppressed violent impulses her entire adult life. Impulses that demand she commit murder.

Blending her urges with reason, Afton stalks a known sexual predator, intending to kill him. But her plan, inspired by true crime and hatched with meticulous care, is interrupted by a mysterious figure from her past. A dangerous man that lurks in the shadows, watching, threatening to turn the huntress into the hunted.

Go Home, Afton is the first of four parts in a new serial thriller by author Brent Jones. Packed with grit and action, The Afton Morrison Series delves into a world of moral ambiguity, delivering audiences an unlikely heroine in the form of a disturbed vigilante murderess.

    1. I hate to invite the comparison. Although if you were a fan of Dexter, that might be a good thing. I’d say that Afton has more in common with Jessica Jones, however, than Dexter. Dexter, of course, was a psychopath, whereas we learn very quickly in Go Home, Afton that Afton is highly disturbed, but has a conscience, and tries to use her violent urges to do good in the world, as morally dubious as that might sound. I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Hm… I’m always wondering why so many authors (men) writing about the women.. They are usually smart when they are creating ‘HER’. Of coz 😂😉. But I’ve found also that women in their stories lacks feminine or emotional side (often).
Anyway, plot sounds like fun 😃

    1. I actually got to be an alpha reader for this one and gave Brent some brutal truths about Afton. Lol! I’m not much of a “lady” myself, but I’m REALLY looking forward to how she turned out!! He had a few of us females giving him some tips on what women would and would not do! So, he did his research!! (smart man!!)

      1. It was never so much an issue of determining what a woman would or wouldn’t do. If I can be blunt, I think that’s taking a bit of a narrow view—no two women are alike, and no two men are alike. We’re all individuals. And so, it seemed most of my beta readers were quite accepting of Afton’s harshness and crassness, and her disturbed mind. Not one of my beta readers made a remark that Afton wasn’t “feminine” or “delicate” enough, because I think all you accepted that while Afton was not traditional in a lot of senses, she was who she was. What most of the feedback surrounded, which I implemented in my first massive rewrite, was giving Afton some softness and certain vulnerabilities so that readers would find it easier to root for her. Her initial iteration was, for some, a bit tough to like and connect with.

      2. Well, I definitely wouldn’t be one to say she’s not feminine enough! 😂 I loved her character though. I thought you did a fantastic job writing her! There definitely wasn’t much to change, in my opinion for sure! 💖

      1. You’ve both got a copy now! It’s as good a time as any to get started, isn’t it? Haha… I would say that, as the author, wouldn’t I? —Brent

      2. Oh, you can read it now, if you want. No worries. You can even review it on your blog and Goodreads, if you so choose. I’d just ask (if you don’t mind) that you copy over your review to retail platforms (such as Amazon and iBooks) on June 25, when it comes out. Totally up to you!
