Class Of Thought

I had to share this for my friend Shalini, as it had me outraged.
As book reviewers need to follow professional protocols when contacting Authors about reviews or requesting copies of books, so should Authors have the common courtesy to be polite and professional. To understand that sometimes some queries into the health, well-being and backlog of a reviewer can go a long way!
Luckily, I have yet to run into this particular problem and all of the Authors I have dealt with have been very understanding and sweet. So, don’t get me wrong. I am not condemning anyone, this just had me incensed!

  1. Thank you, my darling. I knew you would feel the same fury. It was really bad, those initial moments. I have never been threatened or called names. Much less by an author who calls himself a draughtsman and a lyrical poet… Terrible desperate times.
I don’t even read philosophical poems. That needs a different mindset, certainly not a fever addled foggy brain. He made me far more sick that my fever did. He was a bully!! He is a bully!!

    1. I really feel so lucky to have dealt with such amazing authors!! I had one bad experience. But, she was young and just let that one go. You can’t win them ALL, but if you can win 99% of the time THAT’S NOT BAD! 👍💖

  2. This is outrageous!
If anything he should be the polite one because he needs the services of your friend.
If his book was ‘so great’ then I’m sure a truck load of reviewers would be willing to review it for free and with his attitude He’d have been stepping on their heads.

He needs to work on his attitude then maybe he won’t have to bully a reviewer into reviewing his work.
I am not even a reviewer and I am so pained😬.
I hope your friend feels better.❤

    1. The funniest thing is that he was trying to get her to BUY his book to review! I mean, I am ALL FOR supporting my favourite smaller authors, and I have purchased many of their books after receiving an ARC copy because it’s the right thing to do… But, we receive SO MANY book why would I pay for it without knowing if it’s worth my while?? You need to give a little to get a little.
I hope that didn’t sound mean, I meant it in the nicest way possible, and I’m sure many authors out there (for the most part) know this! This is how you get yourself known!
I really hope she feels better soon as well! It definitely doesn’t help while being hasselled and threatened! 😕

  3. I’m really sorry that happened to your friend. Sadly, we live in a time where people think they can bully with words and horrible comments and this is what our society has turned into. I’m glad your friend put her foot down and defended herself. I personally would be more than thrilled if you publish this jerk’s name so we can all avoid him and possibly give him really horrible reviews, but that’s just me. I’m a vengeful mean bitch who hates bullies.

      1. The reason I like you so much is because I know you’re not that nice. Haha! A kindred spirit. Tell your friend to give us that name. You and I will take care of it. And I’m being a hundred percent serious. Bullies need to be put in their place.

  4. I was going to say…that is not an author. He may have ‘written’ something…perhaps even ‘sold’ something…but come on! He writes ‘you’ as ‘U’.. if you are having a ‘business’ conversation at least write like an author
    ..or an adult 😂

    1. That would be funny! I do wonder if the thing with this guy was a bit of a language barrier as well.. He didn’t seem to speak very good English, so I wonder if part of it was trying to get his point across. He still did it VERY RUDELY, but I like to TRY to give people the benefit of the doubt! … “try” being the key word. I have a very short fuse. Ha ha!

      1. Hahaha.. Turned out it was a different guy.. But the author I encountered cussed at me and even said I won’t succeed as a writer since I don’t help him. Like I wasn’t in the mood to read that time and what if i don’t have money to buy his book? Also I was battling depression that time. The impact of his words was just too much…

But I did give him a benefit of the doubt. I love people from his country as I had plenty of classmates in college who came from there.

      2. Well, hopefully that guy got nowhere with his career. Being an author is basically being in personal relations. You need to be pleasant to people to get them to want to read your book! I’m sure your writing is MUCH better than his! 😄💖
