Happy Sunday, everyone! Welcome back to another “Jane Austen variations” version on Cozy Sunday for our last Sunday of the month!

Well, right out of the gate I will state why this novella got a low rating.. there was NO CONFLICT!! Darcy stops anything with Wickham from occurring (which is okay with me as, if I have to read about Lydia running off with him one more time I may scream! Ha ha!) by delivering a letter to Mr. Bennett warning him (which isn’t even a scene in the story. Darcy just SAYS that he does this!)

There is no hatred between Elizabeth Bennett and Darcy. They meet at Rosings, they speak a couple of times…. the end. BORING!! It was just too short and nothing happens!

The scene when Darcy finally confesses his love for Elizabeth is AWKWARD to say the least! I’m not talking awkward as it is in the book, because Elizabeth throws the proposal in his face and tells him what a horrible human being he is. I’m talking horrible in a carriage full of people and COLONEL FITZWILLIAM tells Lizzie that Darcy is in love with her!

“If there is anything both Aunt and Anne know about you, Darcy, is that when your heart is involved, nothing—and I do mean nothing—can budge you from your attachment. Your love for Miss Elizabeth is so solid, so sound, nothing will divert you from your plans of pursuing her. Aunt Catherine, now she is aware, would retreat with her white flag waving, I am sure.”

Dude! Leave the man to tell her on his own!!!

But the grade school antics don’t end there! Darcy is trying to figure out Elizabeth’s feelings for him,

“He was not certain she even liked him.”

I kept expecting him to pass her a note.

Then there is Anne De Bourgh…. yikes. I think this is the first variation I’ve read where she actually WANTS to marry Darcy!

“You could start by doing your duty by me, Darcy. I am soon to be your age with no prospects. Mother has kept me from the grasping hands of other gentlemen because I was formed for you. We should wed soon. I am not getting younger. I prefer to have my first child before I reach thirty.”

I’m being very hard on it, but it’s not all bad. There is an adorable story Darcy tells about proposing to the Cook so she can make him Cinnamon Buns for the rest of his life. That pretty much made the whole story worth the time for me!

With so many Pride and Prejudice variations out there, I wouldn’t recommend this one. There were so many amazing one’s out there, it’s always hard to decide which one’s to read!!

Elizabeth is Best Served with

a Cinnamon Roll Cocktail

I got this idea from Darcy’s adorable story about him and the cook. It was perfect, and it was cozy… now, am I talking about the cocktail or the story??

“One mid-week morning, I boldly strutted downstairs to the kitchen and demanded Cook serve the rolls. At that time, she had been at Pemberley for almost thirty years. She had no doubt who the Master was, and it was not me.

Once refused, I crept back upstairs, humiliated at being set down by a servant and disappointed I was not getting the rolls.”

“Whatever did you do?” Her voice was as light and pleasing as her figure.

“I decided, as only a young boy would do, to ask Cook to marry me.”

BOTH!!

Ingredients

• 3oz Rum Chata liqueur
• 1oz Kahlua (coffee) liqueur

Directions

1. Fill shaker with ice.
2. Put in ingredients
3. Shake for approximately 20 seconds
4. Pour over ice
5. CHEERS!!
