Cozy Sunday: Three Day Fiancee by Marissa Clarke and National Ice Cream Day!!

Three Day Fiancee book cover

For Synopsis and details refer to my Book Blitz post for this book! It’ll have all the info and links to pick it up!!

Well, this is a book that I have to talk through before I give it a rating. On the one hand, I was up until 3:30am unable to put this book down. I devoured it in a couple of hours after deciding that I needed something light hearted to fall asleep with.

On the OTHER hand… it was Gender Swap verion of “The Proposal”.. but, with more of a 17+ Rating.

Is this a bad thing??? By no means! Who DOESN’T want to read about a sexy, successful pilot who has to take a cute dog walker home to his Grams’ Anniversary party after Grams barges in on her trying on an heirloom engagement ring?! It definitely had all the right cute tropes, and just the right amount of steamy to keep me reading.

Now, on to the difficult part, why it is difficult to rate it!

While, I didn’t dislike Caitlin Ramos, she could get a little annoying with her perceived issues,

“Most people toted duffel bags of issues. She was wheeling a steamer trunk and this guy had unwittingly popped the lock of Pandora’s box of bad vibes.”

Okay, so admittedly when Caitlin finally gets around to what happened to her to give her these “issues” I thought, well… you’re right. That sucks! But, I feel like her personality didn’t really reflect the trauma at all, so I found myself dismissing her turmoil. My note for the quote above, when I highlighted it was LITERALLY

“Blah to girly self-doubt. Sweety, we all have self perceived steamer trunks of issues!”

Yes, I like to tell off characters in my Notes sometimes…. so, sue me.

Needless to say, she wasn’t winning any awards with me at this point!

It was also RIFE with super cheesy “sexiness” that had me almost embarrassed for the writing,

“Hell, maybe it was strange, but he couldn’t stop thinking about the dog walker, dripping wet, licking the fizz off the top of her Mountain Dew, which of course turned into a fantasy of her licking other things-his things.”

I actually woke my man up at this point of the story by laughing out loud! I couldn’t help picturing Caitlin, running about Taylor’s apartment, licking all of his possessions! I know, weird. But, “his things”?? first of all HE HAS MORE THAN ONE?? And secondly, what are we, in GRADE SCHOOL??

But, Taylor’s fake proposal made me giggle,

“Caitlin Ramos, dog walker extraodinaire and wearer of wet clothes, would you make me the happiest man in all of Weirdville and do me the honor of pretending to be my fiancee at my grandmother’s party so that she gets off my case before she drives me completely nuts?”

And, I could NOT put it down!! Taylor’s family was wonderfully portrayed and they made me wish that I was part of their love and traditions. So, there were definitely redeeming things about it!

I think I talked myself into a solid

3.5 out of 5 stars

Three Day Fiancee is Best Served with

a Bowl of Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Icewine

Happy National Ice Cream Day!!! I wanted you all to be PREPARED so you can all celebrate it properly! And, what goes better with a cute romantic read than ICE CREAM!!! (and Icewine!)

Wait, this isn’t a cocktail! Okay… no, it is not. But, it involves booze, and it is DELICIOUS!!

Okay, I’m not really going to give you ingredients and directions because, well…. if you need them that’s a little sad! Just take some vanilla ice cream and drizzle on some of your favourite icewine!! I went with a 2009 Cabernet Franc Icewine from a local Winery, Pond View, but feel free to choose whichever you like. Any varietal of icewine is delicious!

CHEERS!!

Seriously though…I’m glad that for the most part you enjoyed this novel, and of course made another wonderful post out of it (not to mention that icecream with icewine combo looks seriously delicious 😊).

      3. Oh. My. Gosh. I think I would die if you suddenly started posting chapters to a Rom Com!! 😂😂 I me a, how hard could it really BE?? A cute girl, a hot guy, some heart fluttering, some cheesy lines, spin the wheel and choose your trope… And they all lived happily ever after! There you go! If you haven’t written it already, I just wrote it for you! 😂😂

  2. Another fun review, and another delicious drinkish delight! Yum! Why had I not tried icewine with ice cream? Our local custard parlor is having a big celebration for ice cream day. We’re thinking of going! 😂 🍨 🍦

      1. I’ll have to find some to try, though I’m not a sweet wine person. Of course, I AM a sweet/nice person, and a wine person, so maybe I am a sweet wine person after all. But I’m not keen on sweet wine, which is what I should have said in the first place.

      2. This is VERY DIFFERENT from a typical sweet wine. It’s more of a dessert wine. Almost syrupy. It has more of a… Raisin-y kind of flavour almost? It’s a different kind of sweet… Just try it. Ha ha! I’m doing a bad job at describing it. 😜😀

  3. Thanks for another delicious review and the dessert suggestion. While I’d normally agree ANY Ice Wine is super YUM-OO–my question is with the label Pond View. Pond…? You gotta know that doesn’t conger delicious, sweet, ice wine. All ice wines not being equal, I’d also suggest Ste. Chapelle or Sawtooth. (My personal fav–Ste. Chapelle (probably also most affordable). We also really like “affordable.” 😉

    1. This one was, I believe, a little on the expensive side, but not terrible. (we have something twice a year called a “discovery pass” tour where you pay for passes to 6 or so participating wineries of your choice and get a wine and food pairing, at one time its normal wines and the other is an Icewine tour… I bought way too many icewines and I don’t drink them that frequently… Now I’m trying to find things to do with them!! Ha ha!
And this wine is pond VIEW, not Pond WATER. 😂😂 The winery overlooks a beautiful pond, hence their name. Their wine is so delicious!! A little on the pricey side, but a lot of the wine around me is! 😉

  4. “Blah to girly self-doubt. Sweety, we all have self perceived steamer trunks of issues!”….. Best part!!! I admit I also ‘speak’ to the characters in my notes. LOL.

Ice Wine… I haven’t had in ages! I tried chilled Port the other night but it’s really not the same. 😉

    1. Mmmm… Port is pretty good as well, though! I haven’t had port in a while!
I’m glad I’m not the only one to talk to the characters in their notes!! Just wait until I put up my post for “I’ve got this round” by Mamrie Hart! IT’S A DRINKING GAME… LIKE, THE BOOK HAS IT’S OWN DRINKING GAME!! 😂😂 And, of course, I played it. And half of my post are the stupid noted I made while playing and reading. Ha ha!! I can’t wait to get to it… Hopefully in the next week or two!

      1. I had a bottle of white Port some time ago… that might work with the vanilla ice-cream 🤔😄
Seriously????? That post sounds great! Can’t wait. Will have to make sure I’m alone while I read it 🤣🤣🤣

  5. I swear, I have taken *very* similar notes while reading – you’re not alone!!! 😂 And you’ve combined two of my great loves: not-necessarily-wonderful novels that can be devoured quickly (they’re like Macdonalds for the brain, the way I think of it, probably not best to “eat” them for every meal but damn they taste good now and then), AND booze-covered ice cream! I will pour pretty much anything over anything: Kahlua over hazlenut, Baileys over vanilla, vodka over sorbet… YUM!
