Game On! Do You Know What Your Kids are Playing?

So, dealing with kids and video games every day has made me very surprised at what some people allow their children to play. Not only are children playing Mature rated games all the time (17+), there also the games that parents allow their children to play even though they don’t seem to look into what it actually is! I mean, cartoon games HAVE to be pretty innocent, right??

Well, welcome to a few of the games that have been popular with young children in the last year or so.

Hello Neighbour

20180707_201013.jpg

The premise of this game is that you are trying to sneak into your neighbours house to see what is going on in his basement, you sneak onto his property

20180707_201337.jpg

and try to lure him out to break into his home without him capturing you and….

20180707_201420.jpg

To be determined? What I will say, is that after a couple of times getting captured you start to get glimpses into something nefarious…

20180707_214400.jpg

Okay, this picture isn’t nefarious. It’s just showing the awful graphing. You can stand on a ledge and turn around to hang over space, and you won’t fall. There are also things that fall through solid objects… the game is a little broken.

When you break into his house and get into the basement…

*SPOILER ALERT!!*

There is a bed (surrounded by soda cans and such, like someone has been down there for a long time before) with fake windows and when you break through them…. Well, things just get creepier and creepier!

I just wanted to ask, where are my parents, and why aren’t they looking for me???

Five Nights at Freddy’s

20180727_204218.jpg

You are a night security guard who gets a job watching a Pizza Party Restaurant (a la Chuckie Cheese or Choo-Choo Charlie’s, or anyone has ANY idea what those are!)

20180727_204233.jpg

this place consists of animatronic animals that just so happen to go into “free roam mode” during the night (according to the voice mail left by your predecessor), which means, they wander and apparently try to shove you into a Freddy suit… Which, doesn’t sound so bad except for the fact that the suits are already stuffed with animatronics, wires, etc… So, immediately causing death.

20180727_204446.jpg

You also only have a certain amount of power in your security station, so, as these bloody creepy animatronics are disappearing to come kill, you only have a certain amount of power to look at the screens, and more importantly, to close the locking security doors. So you have to watch these creepy buggers stalk to different rooms (but, not too closely since you can’t waste your power), and you have to try to save power to save yourself!

I did NOT know about this one. My 8 year old niece was the one to bring this to my attention, you are staying at your Grandmother’s house for 5 day… The point? Survive. Your grandmother is a freaking whack job, and the point of the game is to run and hide from Granny (who had no qualms with bashing your brains in with a baseball bat), and try to escape the house! Apparently, this is a big game with she and her friends!

It’s a free app on phones and tablets, unless you pay to remove the ads, so I feel like parents may not even realize that their children are playing this game!

I hope that this list helped to possibly clue some parents in, or make them understand what their children are talking about, or trying to purchase.

What Nicole?? No Fortnite?? No. This was a newer fad and really, it’s not bad besides the crazy amount of DLC, and you must always be aware of who you’re kids are playing with online!

CHEERS!!!

  1. It really amazes me as well sometimes how many parents are unaware of what their children are playing. (Or even worse, they are aware and simply donā€™t care about it) Whatever the reason, games sure have changed over the years. Whatever happened to a good old game of Pong! Lol šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
That Granny game looks scary by the way. If this was the list you were talking about earlier this week about games that I would enjoy playing, that one certainly would rank high on that list. Ugh…she looks seriously sinisteršŸ˜…šŸ˜…
Great post! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š

    1. Ha ha! This is definitely not the list I would make for you! You’ll know when that one comes up, because you’ll get a ping back and it’s LITERALLY going to be called “Games Raistlin needs to play!” šŸ˜Ž Would you play horror games?? Because that’s going to expand the list!… Maybe this will turn into a post in parts with different genres!! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Ahhh… I love being crazy on my blog! It’s a dangerous outlet for my wild creative mind. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜šŸ˜…

And hey I am pretty crazy myself, and ever since I started my blog I think I turned only more crazy lol šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Well..horrorgames, let’s see I played all the Resident Evils, Silent Hill 1-3, Gears of War (well that’s not really horror is it?šŸ¤”šŸ¤”), Alan Wake…erm…does that answer your question a bit? šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š

  2. No I don’t know and I don’t care. Since I don’t have any… Kids or video games…
Did you get a hint of sarcasm in my comment. Not slept the whole night, down with chest pain. Fed up

      1. Where the drinks which go with granny? And granny is supposed to be sweet and nice not whack job. Where is the age of innocence? I wouldn’t mind playing Tom and Jerry games, if there are video games of them or if anyone knows who they are.. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ˜³šŸ˜³

  3. Since day camp started this vacation my older two have been obsessed with Granny! I havenā€™t let them put it on their kindles but they keep accessing the you tube videos to ā€˜seeā€™ it šŸ™ˆ And of course , itā€™s cool and Mummy is lame. šŸ™„
You know how I feel about horror! šŸ˜‚

    1. It’s terrifying!! Ha ha! You know I AM a horror gal and I ended up needing to get my man to take the screenshot because I kept jumping when she would show up and run at me, so I would miss the shot!! It’s sad that apparently I should have got my niece to do it. šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‚

      1. Yeah. Lol. They seem to have a higher tolerance for that stuff. Although my ten year old niece complained that my boys were watching something that is ā€˜way too scary for meā€™ when we caught them watching it on YouTube šŸ˜„

  4. I played these sorts of games as a child too. I don’t think any of the ones mentioned here are that bad, they’re mostly jumpscares. I’m sure some parents would rather their kids not play but I think certain children would play these and end up fine.

    1. Ha ha! Oh, I’m not saying that these children are going to end up wrong in anyway. I grew up on Mortal Kombat and I’m fine. I’m just surprised by
A: the age. It’s VERY young.
And B: I work in the industry and I find it interesting that the parents DO KNOW what these games are. If you’re going to allow your kinds to play these games, you should at least know what you’re allowing.

  6. Five Nights at Freddy’s freaked me out…I’ve never played it or even watch anyone play it, but just reading the description of the game was scary enough for me as a young teen. I hate horror games…

    1. I want to know if they actually market them to kids, or if kids just stumble upon it (usually from YouTube videos) and the developers go,… Well, why not?? And start making the deals to get toys and such made? You go where the money is! šŸ˜‰

      1. I’m terrible at it too!!! The little ones are so much better! Which baffles me because I used to play the game ALL the time when I was little! Are my reflexes that slow now??

  7. I monitor my kids online activity no matter what they’re doing. I think it is necessary at this time in age. They hate that I do that but it’s so much negativity now and danger, you have to. Great post

  8. Oh that granny game is creepy. My nephew is still at that young age where he wants to play games with us so he’s easily monitored but I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes out in the future. Thank you!

  9. Hello Neighbour is actually like the movie Don’t Breathe. But you get to experience it in first-person this time hahahah So true that innocent looking games are assumed to be just that when they can be actually quite violent. Like some cartoons out there nowadays! šŸ˜‰

  10. Well that neighbor game sounds extremely creepy! Interesting!
My boys are older now, but that seems like a much worse game then even the us shooting games!

      1. Oh that is so true! Just your description creeped me out about the game! There is just SO much wrong with some of these games….šŸ˜©

  11. I monitor my kids, but they still find some of the silliest games. I haven’t seen Granny yet. That one looks intriguing! I feel tempted to download haha. Thanks for sharing this! ā¤
