My Thoughts

Someone from Afton’s past is trying to set her up. The problem is, she has no idea who. When this person starts to threaten those she loves (even if Afton won’t admit it) it begins… When they start to TAKE people she loves? Let the game of cat and mouse begin… But, Afton has NEVER been a mouse.

See you Soon, Afton really seemed to delve into Afton’s moral quandry. She’s always had these instincts to kill, but is it in her? Can she fool herself saying that she’s killing for good when it’s a bad person she’s after? What really makes a “bad person” and who has the right to be that judge and jury? Will she listen to her mother’s final words, and realize that killing isn’t the way to soothe her soul? Well, Afton is definitely ready to find out as people begin to make a re-appearance and turn all of her quiet plans upside down.

I LOVE how much insight we’re getting into Afton and what makes her tick in this story! I loved her before, but she’s making more and more sense as time goes on! Learning more about her family, her mother, and the decisions that were made during her childhood really clarified Afton’s thought process and her need to kill.

I am literally on pins and needles for the rest of the series! I have also come to the conclusion that Chris is THE BEST brother in the world! He helps Afton out even though she won’t give him any reason for the things she needs! He just goes and does it for her… I’m pretty sure I’m in love with him. MOVE OVER, TINA! I MAY BE STAKING MY CLAIM!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a thriller, a story about family, a story with amazing character building, and a series with depth and surprises!

So, I’m sure you’re all wondering… why an Older Sister cocktail??? Well, you’ll have to read the Afton Morrison Series to find out!! Believe me, it’s worth the time, and being novellas, they really aren’t going to take up much! Great structure is always the way to go.

IFound this recipe on Can Cook, Will Travel

Ingredients

  • 2½ oz Cranberry Juice (70g)
  • 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice (28g)
  • A few drops of fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¼ oz Simple Syrup 7g (I used the syrup from making the sugared cranberries…see note for how to make your own)
  • 1 oz Ginger Beer (28g)
  • 1½ oz Citrus Vodka (70g) (Or use regular vodka and add an extra few drops of lemon juice)
  • 3-4 Sugared Cranberries skewered (for garnish) …I skipped the skewer and just dropped them right in!

Directions

  1. In your cocktail shaker throw in some ice, and then add the cranberry juice, orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, ginger beer, and vodka. If you user regular vodka over citrus vodka, then add an extra splash of lemon juice.
  2. Put the lid on your shaker, and then give it 3-4 shakes.
  3. If you taste the cocktail and think it’s too tangy, then and add more simple syrup.
  4. Finally Serve over ice and garnish with some skewered sugared cranberries.
  5. CHEERS!!

  4. I have always though that there was something wrong with me, but to see that confirmed here in this post makes it even harder (In case you are wondering what I am talking about I haven’t picked up the first novel..okay let the yelling and screaming at me begin: Moves into a corner😓😓😓).
    A distrubed vigilante murderess huh? That really sounds so nice 😊😊 But that is a character discription that really grabbed my attention. Yes, yes…I am adding these to my to read list…no worries 😊😊

      5. I promised Didi long ago that I would read one of her novels and write a review for it….I started with it yesterday and I am now on page 125. Now…I know that doesn’t seem like a lot, but it’s in between reading multiple posts that were submitted for the creator showcase, other blog posts in the reader and writing comments😊😊 I can honestly say this is the biggest number of pages that I have read in such a short time all year 😊 That only shows how gooood it is 😊😊
        Ooppss…I guess I am still talking about Didi’s novels, and only saying even more about how good it is….😳😳😳 Sorry…..erm yeah, I know that’s totally not believable 😂😂

      6. Well, you’re 125 pages up on me!! And, I just mean in general!! Today was going to be a quick catch up (for my weeks AWOL!) then on to reading! (I have a review due Thursday and haven’t started my books for my mermaid week upcoming!) well, I’ve now been awake for 9.5 hrs and have read????…… 0 pages!!! Too much stalking, too little reading! And, I just realized I haven’t caught up on Didi’s blog either!!… Off I go into the wild blue yonder YET AGAIN!! Its going to be a long day! 😂😉 I almost want to just put a post up that says “haven’t seen me in a while?? Comment below and expect a visit!!” I don’t know how you keep everyone straight.. A lot of people don’t show up on my reader feed and, sometimes I just go through whoever has liked my posts in the passed little while, but I still miss so many people! 😣

      7. Haha…trust me, I have always got trouble keeping up. It was a lousy day today anyway, as it was very busy at work, and this heat here is totally killing me. So then I came home and found out that my reader pretty much exploded with way too many good posts. After commenting on each of those I spent time on reading posts for the Creator Showcase, and now it’s almost time for me to head off into lala land (which is crazy talk for heading off to sleep). Haha…but don’t worry, that stalking part is totally fun, I do it every day (erm…wait…that sounded actually quite creepy, erm..disregard please). But of course there are always people I just like to stalk a little bit more…gee…I really wonder who I am talking about right now 😂😂🤔🤔okay…and that actually sounded even more creepy…. 😳😳😳
        But truthfully, it really is hard to keep up with everyone. I am not kidding when I am saying that I am pretty much at my limit when it comes to following blogs (but…of course I usually totally ignore my own rule and add new ones anyway).
        But hey…I guess we all have these problems, and I’m pretty sure no one will hold it against you when you haven’t visited them in a while. (and if they do..they are not worthy of your stalking 😂😂). 0 pages though huh? Wow…oh well, I guess you could just stop sleeping tonight and read some stuff? 😂😂

      8. Well, I personally LOVE your stalking!… Erm… Visits! 😉🤣 I can only imagine how hard it is keeping up with everything with Jon Spenser’s Showcase! I really wanted to take a month to host that, myself… But, I’m so behind on everything that I couldn’t let all my author requests (who are already suffering..) suffer more!
        The worst part it, I’m almost done staking for the day… I should read… But, all I want to do is watch this reverse harem chinese “drama” (okay, it’s more of a sitcom) that I CAN’T STOP WATCHING!! I was going to email you about it and ask you to plan an intervention… I have so much to do… And I watched about 19 episode in 2-3 days…. And as someone who watched Asian dramas, you know they’re never short episodes!! Ha ha!… I feel so dirty…. I really need help. I can’t even multi task with it because I have to read subtitles!! (maybe I can write a review on it since TECHNICALLY I’m reading it?? 😂😂🤔)

        I’m not even going to lie: the first two days, I was totally panicking. I received over 40 posts in the span of 48 hours. I thought if it would continue on that pace, I would go completely insane. As much as I love doing this, it really began to overwhelm me. But…everything is cool now. The submissions have died down a little, the only hard thing about it is deciding who will be featured in the final post…no pressure 😓😓😓
        I understand though…It really is a lot of fun, but there is little time for other things to do 😊

      1. I recently saw a Korean movie called the Villainess that pretty much would fit perfectly with that phrase lol. And yes I totally agree, it has a very nice ring to it. It most certainly grabbed my attention that’s for sure 😊

    1. Ha ha! I know that they’re coming out pretty quick, but that’s good because I’m bad at waiting for good things!! I’m literally losing my mind to read the last 2 because this one amped up so great!! They’re so short (at least these 2 are!) you’ll be able to zoom through them in no time! 😁😁💖🍻 Also, the drink was delicious! I really enjoyed it and the Crabbie’s Ginger beer I used was VERY real ginger, so it made it really refreshing! 🍺👌

    1. They really are amazingly written, Robbie! The first book was a great way to establish the characters initially and allow you to see into a snapshot of their lives at that moment… Then things go crazy and the characters all have to change and adapt or wind up dead or in jail! It really was a great progression! 😁

    1. Well, the plus side is, you don’t need much patience! They’re actually novella’s so they’re pretty short. So, if you ever Feel like you want to give the genre a go, this would be a great series to start with! 👍 I think the best thing about this series is Afton’s character. She’s no unlike anyone I’ve ever seen or read before. And, the BEST part is… That she’s not REALLY a serial killer! (this is not a spoiler) in the first book, she hasn’t really killed anyone. She’s planning her first kill because she has killer URGES. It all a very unique tale! (… Have I mentioned how much I love it?? 😂)
