My Thoughts

Well, I had a rather big surprise with this one! I don’t know why I went into this expecting the stories to be kind of silly parodies, but I did. THAT IS NOT THE CASE!!! There are some throwbacks to “The Walking Dead” and some funny hidden references, but these are serious zombie stories FULL of feels!

I was honestly surprised, and a little choked up reading some of the stories! Finding a family in the middle of devastation as in “Life on a Double Decker Bus” by author Kevin J. Kennedy, losing a family, as in “Into the Arena” by Paul M. Feeney, or trying to re-invent yourself into a better version of you, as in “The New Norm” by Suzanne Sussex. These stories really pulled at the heart strings! Don’t go into them expecting happy endings… but, come on, folks. It’s the Apocalypse!

There were a few issues with the editing. Not enough to ruin the experience by any means, but enough that it was noticeable. There were some missing words and grammatical errors in some of the stories, although I didn’t reflect that in my rating as I’m unsure as to whether I got a completed copy, so I always try to refrain from nitpicking as long as it’s not completely atrocious!

I highly recommend this anthology to anyone who is a fan of “The Walking Dead”, anyone who loves zombies, or anyone who just wants a book full of amazing authors with great imagination!!

  1. I don’t know if I ever said this: but I am a huge The Walking Dead fan (as in …it’s still my number 1 all time favorite tv series, right after 24 😊😊). But if I would see this one in my bookstore withtou having read this I would have passed it by lol😂😂. As this title really sugggests it’s some kind of weird comedy anthology 😂😂
Well…always nice to find something surprising….although I think you would have liked it to have a bit more comedy 🤔🤔 (well….I think anyway lol😂). Oh well, you still got a great drink out of it, and there is nothing wrong with stories that pull at the heartstringes (Though knowing me for the softie that I am I would probably end up crying lol 😂😂) Great post…but then again, when are they not 😘❤️😊

      1. Lol…I could look outside my window, but as I live in Holland I don’t think I would find the British walking dead outside lol (and as I live up on the twelfth floor of an appartement bulding it would also be a bit hard for me to do 😂😂

    1. Honestly, I got through about 2 episodes of the show. I started with the graphic novels, and the show just couldn’t live up for me! (sorry!!) but, this book was really great, and I love getting the different styles and voices from different authors! 💖💖

      1. Ha ha!! Didn’t I tell you before that I shaved my head in highschool?? Right down to peach fuzz. Lol! I loved it!! Other people??… Not so much…. My older sister was so embarrassed she told people I had cancer… 😕

  2. WAY too long to have a headache, Shalini. Now, Nicole, zombies? I liked the hat, too, and got over the hair thing when I wore a helmet. Okay, it’s Halloween. But I’d be the same, looking for tongue-in-cheek stuff. The serious stuff, that’s just…ouch…good, honest review.

    1. I shaved my head in high school because I was over hair… Too much work. But, they seem to like it in the professional world. 😕 The cover and description… For some reason, had me thinking it wss going to be rather silly. It took me a while to wrap my mind around the fact that it DEFINTITELY was not!
