I have to thank Mary over at Sophril Reads for this one! I was trying to think of a good stand off for Christmas and she put up the Pentatonix version for a 3 Days of Christmas Lyrics Challenge!!

That’s pretty…. I would have liked a little more passion in it. That’s what drew me to Rufus’ version. 😀

Well, the lovely Fraggle Rocking just completely rocked my world sending me a FANTASTIC other version… so, I’m replying to everyone saying CHECK IT OUT! It really is beautiful!

I really liked Pentatonix take on it but I’ve listened to Rufus’s version my whole life and I love it.

Jeff Buckley is amazing… Hell, they ALL are!! That’s why I couldn’t narrow down ones to post! 😂 I try to keep it at 3 or less… But, HOW DO YOU NARROW THESE DOWN??

Okay I love the Leonard Cohen version! ❤ But this song always reminds me of one of the Shrek movies. Shrek the Third?? *googles* Apparently it was sung by John Cale. So my vote is for him lol

There’s no competition on this one. It has to be Jeff Buckley. This song, and that version of it, have carried me through so many moments in my life and it is perfection.

Do you have any idea how hard this one is????????? I didn’t care for the Cohen one. The Buckley one is soooo looonggg but so good. Rufus is great and Pentatonix is so cute and new. So, I’ve narrowed it down to Buckley and Rufus. Can I get two votes?

p.s Leonard Cohen was in the audience for this recording at the Juno awards. After hearing KD Lang, he reportedly said he never needed to hear another cover of the song, and that the song should be retired for he had heard PERFECTION. I cried just watching it again now! soft bint that I am.

That. Was. Beautiful. I’ve somehow never heard this version… Or maybe I have and I just don’t remember because I’ve probably heard about 50 different versions of this song! 😅 But, this was defintitely amazing. KD Lang has AMAZING passion.

I’m going to go with Rufus Wainwright on this one. K.D. is amazing but Rufus is the one version I know the best and always listen to 🙂

I’ve heard Rufus’ version most of my life, it’s the one I’m most drawn to. But all the props to Leonard for creating such a timeless song! (AKA I do vote for Rufus.)
