But, Nicole…. It’s not Sunday!! Ya? Well, if you want to argue with me, talk to my whip! Your only upcoming response should be “Yes, Mistress”. That’s how Vanessa over at Food in Books and I roll!! We’re bringing Sexy back! Ha ha! Make sure you go check out her review (she liked it way more than I did!) and her delicious shrimp recipe!!
Synopsis
Welcome to the club to satisfy all your desires. In the Caribbean sun, the champagne flows and the games of pain and pleasure never stop. Lisa is the perfectionist. Elliot, the client. In their meeting, they discover that Eden is a state of heart and mind where innocence and love can be recaptured.
My Thoughts
I had read this book ages ago and was surprised at how much less I liked it this time!! Who knew that a book about a sex slave on an island resort that caters to your every sexual need, full of BDSM and debauchery could be SO BORING! Ha ha!
Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a little. I think my main problem was really with Elliot. For someone who couldn’t wait to come to this island and be someone’s slave he had WAY TOO MANY inhibitions and just got embarrassed all the time! Martin would have been ASHAMED!!
Lisa was also terrible. For someone known as “the perfectionist” and the “boss lady” I wanted to tie her down and give HER a good whipping! I would have beaten Elliot black and blue for his cocky impertinence! (You all know it. I’m not going to hide it!)
“I got a powerful, secret satisfaction from the innocence of her face and voice. And when she looked up at me I winked at her. I could almost swear she blushed as she looked off.”
I found that the writing style was so frantic and descriptive with a lot of flipping between past and present, that half the time I had trouble figuring out what was going on!
I won’t deny that it had some pretty steamy scenes, though!
“I saw her dark curly hair there, tiny curling wisps against the pink skin, and shy, delicate pubic lips, the kind that are almost demurely hidden by the hair. She lowered the phallus and pushed one end of it up and into herself, her whole body moving in a graceful undulation to receive it, the other end curving outwards, and towards me just exactly as if she were a woman with an erect cock. The image was stunning: her delicate form and the gleaming cock rising so perfectly from the tangled curly hair, her face so seemingly fragile, her mouth so deeply rose red. I hardly saw her hands move, or reach up, until I felt her thumbs pressed into my underarms, her face very close to mine as she said, “Turn around.””
” I went down on my knees in front of her, burrowing my head into her sex, and then my face and licking her and kissing her. “I can’t, I can’t stand it,” she whispered. She was clawing at my head, pressing me against her and then pushing me back. “It’s too intense, stop it. Come into me,” she said, “it’s too, it’s too . . .” I had my own clothes off in a second. And I pushed her up on the bed, so that she was sitting at the very foot of it, and I pushed her legs apart and looked at her naked sex and the way that it was breathing, moving, the hair glistening, the lips pink and secret and quivering.”
I did love the description Anne Rice writes likening this place to a Heironymus Bosch painting “all full of lurid silver and red, and my only chance of getting out again was the lady who’d brought me in. But did I want to get out? Of course not.”
If you want a steamy read that, in my opinion is like “Pretty Woman” meets “50 Shades of Grey” pick up a copy now!!

So the cocktail, as usual, is perfect. LOL! I’m sorry you didn’t like the book. If only I could trust that you wouldn’t pick something so totally gross next time, I’d let you be the deciding factor for next month. However, seeing as this month’s pick was all about losing control, maybe I’ll let you take control……tee hee……and pick our next book. (God help me!) 😉
And I take great issue with you comparing this to 50 Shades of Grey. That book sucked……and not in a good way. This book is much better and with much more philosophy, IMHO. 🙂

Ha ha! Oh, I’m not talking the actual content of the book. The concept and writing was WAY BEYOND 50 shades, for sure. It was the sex! Come on, on an island where absolutely anything goes how many times can you write about a kiss?? Omg, all the kissing… And it was all light smacks and boot licking…. TAME! No one on this island has something REALLY kinky going on? Can we please focus on them briefly?? 🤔

💯% Agree It was Way too tame . I practically feel asleep reading the book , @AnneRamplings Where is the BDSM?, the autoplushophillia? the exebitionism? the gerotophillia? and the acrotomophillia?

The drink looks lush, the book sounds duff. That nearly rhymes but doesn’t really.

“Pretty Woman” meets “50 Shades of Grey” …. hmmm…… what a combo!
As for the drink… it’s pure freaking alcohol! Not even a little syrup to smooth things over. hahaha. No foreplay necessary!

Wow! That was far more explicit than any photo could ever be. Anne Rice certainly has a way with words. I thought she’d stopped doing exotic stuff.
Could you review some Anais Nin? She’s my fave!
If I drank all your drinks… I’d probably get sick. But if I didn’t, I’d probably wake up hung over and naked on a strange couch wonder where I was and where my clothing disappeared to.

You don’t have to be young to be foolish! 😅

P.S. I’m sure we could DEFINTITELY do some Anais Nin! We haven’t even picked a book for next month. So, I guess that’s as good a place to start as any! Vanessa will be pleased someone cam up with something reasonable since it’s my choice… And my choices tend to get out of hand very quickly. I WILL GET TO HOT AND BADGERED ONE DAY!! 🤣🤣
