Thank you to Shalini at Digital Reads Blog Tours for having me on the tour today!

Synopsis

Love can be wholesome,

Healthy and pure.

It can also be deadly,

Of this I am sure.

I’ve experienced many,

I’ve opened my door.

Of all the love that I’ve held

There’s one thing I know,

Ain’t no one has loved

Quite like me… Jann Doe.

EVERY LOVE is a collection of poetry covering my own experiences in love. From abuse, to affair, to healthy commitment, I’ve experienced the dynamics of love… even suicide has played a part. The name ‘Jann Doe’ is to protect myself and my family from my own mistakes and history, given the parts of me that love has touched.

My Thoughts

Well, I don’t claim to be an expert on poetry. I wouldn’t even know where to begin to tell you what a “good poem” is. But, I know that if writing makes you feel something, then the author must be on the right track. And, this author made me feel something. I loved the different impressions of love: Young, Forbidden, Deadly, Self, etc. I enjoyed the different feel of the poems reflecting each different version of love.

I don’t usually do this, but I’m going to tie my drink right into my review this time because I was inspired to invent my own drink this time!

Every Love is Best Served with a Blue to Red

20190723_084912.jpg

Inspired by the poem “Blue to Red” in this compilation:

“Closed tight are the eyes,

Who behind them have flames,

Nothing personal left,

No love and no names,

The blue turns to red,

And lifts into smoke,

Emotions are dead,

Just a numb fucking joke,

The dance of out lust,

A luscious kiss burnt,

The eyes never open,

Too fixated, too hurt.”

I decided to make this drink with red and blue KINKY Liqueur, which is a little bit sweet and a little bit sour…  a lot like love can be! And, it had to be a shot because, sometime love can be a shot to the heart!

Directions

  • take both liqueur layering one over the other by slowly pouring over the  rounded side of a spoon
  • CHEERS!!

Author Bio:

Jann Doe is a poet who recognizes and accepts her authenticity as a woman, and encourages other women to do the same. Everyone has their burdens to cary, their flaws to accept, and their strengths to pride themselves on. Jann’s goal as a poet is to speak out on behalf of other women across the globe to love themselves for who they truly are. No one is perfect, nor should we be. It’s imperative that we as women accept ourselves, and live for tomorrow… not by ignoring our past but by learning from it, and growing because of it.

    1. NEVER!! (I hope) 😂😂 I still have A LOT to go to run out of drinks to pair… There are so many and people inventing new ones, or releasing new things every day!
It makes a purple if you don’t mix them slowly. This one, when mixed right actually kind of swirled the 2 colours together. It was pretty cool looking. Sadly, I couldn’t get my picture to do it justice, anyways.. The lighting in my house sucks.

  1. I have absolutely zero experience when it comes to poetry. As in I really know nothing. But that said, love certainly is an emotion I’m too familiar with😅 Even though that luck in love has never really been for me alas. But I’m veering off track here. As always your post makes me smile: the drinks look cool (and even though I don’t drink, I would be very tempted to try them out anyways 😊 And that said, I would even be tempted to read this collection as I have seen it pop up everywhere this week 😊
    Great post as always! 😘

    1. Ya. I don’t know the proper rules or meters or anything pertaining to poetry. It’s a lot like art. If you like it, you like it… If you don’t, you don’t. Really it’s like any writing. Sometimes it depends on the frame of mind, personality, life in general of the reviewer. It’s what makes reviews so personal.
