COVID-19 Update from this Boozy BookWorm.. Who Needs Saving from Boredom??

Hello All,

Just a quick update for anyone wondering why this BookWorm has been a little quiet lately! I was hoping this whole thing would disappear more quickly than it has… that doesn’t seem to be the case. So, an update for the future!

I will continue to put out my reviews, and they will contain a recipe (how could I do without THAT?!) But, it may not contain a picture of the completed product because, although I have a fully stocked booze pantry, the issue at this time is anything extra required in the recipe. It’s very difficult to get anywhere now, and my focus is real necessities. So, unfortunately juices, garnishes, sodas, etc. just don’t make the cut in this crazy world.

Now that this statement is out of the way, my posts will start to come regularly again!!

In saying that, I would LOVE to start a virtual book club with you lovely folks out there!! Maybe we can all ban together and choose a book. We’ll all “sit down with a glass of wine” and plan how much to read, then we can all post discussions on it!

      1. I don’t have unlimited but I do have kindle. Books on kindle are usually cheap as chips anyhoo, at least the ones I get are 😀 I read a few authors from wordpress, but am sure you know loads more.

      2. Well, if there’s someone specific you want to read, let me know! I’m always up for requests (maybe I’ll meet someone knew!!) otherwise, I’ll take a look on kindle and see what I can find!

    1. I’ve had Discord and Zoom recommended. I like the idea of both! I’ll put out another post within the week with a definitive plan of action and book. I want to stick with an author from WordPress. Maybe we can get them to join us for the discussion!

    1. Perfect! Within the next week I’ll have another post with a timeframe, plans and a book if you’d like to join! I want to stick with an author that is on WordPress. Maybe we can get them to join us for our discussion!

  1. I’m still alive and well and cooking and blogging and drinking a lot of wine. Glad to hear you’re still among the living and blogging as well. I would totally be down for a virtual book club discussion via Zoom with wine as long as you don’t make us read any of that horrible chick lit! that you love so much lol!!!! 😘

    1. That I love so much?! Lmao!! I think I’ve reviewed about 4 things in 3 yrs that could be construed as “chick lit”, and everyone needs a little light hearted nonsense in their lives! 😘 Ooo…. Zoom. Never thought of that! Someone else recommended Discord…. Guess I should have planned this out ahead of time! Any recommendations for Authors?? I’d love to support someone on WordPress. I don’t want to go mainstream.

      1. Yes can you imagine 5 or 6 of us having a Zoom book club discussion with large glasses of wine in our hands? I can visualize it perfectly. There are 2 online word press bloggers who have books that would be great to read and discuss. Charles French wrote a really great horror novel called Maledicius and James Cudney wrote one called Father Figure which I haven’t yet read. Those might be fun and give them some love, too. Hope you’re staying well and safe, my friend.

      2. I’ve read Father Figure and would LOVE to discuss it!! And, I’ve been looking to read Charles French’ books for AGES! Hmm… now you’ve got me thinking… maybe we can do more than one book?? Ha ha!! Man, I hate making decisions….

      3. I think he would! I told him that he can always join later in the conversation if he doesn’t want to hear the whole thing. Some authors I’ve known prefer to have that it’s better for a group to discuss first, then bring the author in so they can feel comfortable to get real questions and concerns out first without pandering to the author. Lol!

  2. I’ll reach out to a couple of authors that I have connected with via Instagram and Twitter and see if they would also be willing to have discussions as some of their works via Zoom. Wouldn’t that be a fun thing?

      1. No, thankfully I’m home and have a few older things to post and I’m working on a couple of projects so that I can put all my knowledge to good use! Feel free to check out my blog if you want to help with one – I’m looking to find out people’s favorite hiking trails!

  3. I might be in too. Father Figure is a pretty good one… but I may be biased. Lol.
Do you have free zoom or paid? free zoom only allows you about 40 mins to host groups three and up… unless they’ve been super sweet during this covid-19 time and taken that restriction off.

  4. I’d be interested. Besides no gym or restaurants my life is pretty close to normal, since I already worked from home. I’ve done two book clubs on zoom and it worked out well. We got around the 40 minute limit on the free version by scheduling 2 meetings back to back. I’ve never read French but either book would be fine for me.
