  2. Yay! Nicole is back!

I was unfamiliar with Irma. I dig that old Motown sound. This was a fantastic version. It was really done up big and had an epic quality to the performance.

I have always enjoyed the Stones version. I gave it a more careful listen this time, as I had not before realized that it was a cover. They copy the lyrics word for word and the arrangement was exactly the same.. Rather than raving the song up, as is often done with covers, they toned it down a tad. Keith’s lead guitar licks, especially at the opening of the song struck a classic tone.

In the end, to decide the victor, it came down to Irma versus Mick. Mick killed it. I have no doubt that in Mick Jagger’s mind, he IS a black girl. Irma was wonderful and authentic. Did you see the size of her eyes!?! that girl has soul, and the events in the song were real for her, as opposed to Mick, who was pretending.

In one of the closest calls that I have made since sounding my opinion in this format,.I declare that Irma is our champion, even if she won by the slightest of margins.

    Congratulations, Irma!

    Happy New Year, Nicole!

    Happy Trails, everybody!

    1. Ichy!!! I’ve missed you, friend! I’m back and ready to get down to business. I can’t wait to jump back in the deep end. I’VE MISSED IT!! I absolutely love Irma’s voice. I was surprised to discover that it was a cover as well. I fell in love with it in the movie “Fallen” I can’t listen to this song without getting creeped out now. 😅🍻
