Synopsis
We recommend the following prescription: Strange Medicine – weird and wonderful stories for all that ails you. Strange Medicine is a fantastic collection of extraordinary tales of transformation by UK weird-fiction author Mike Russell. If you love the strange, surreal and unusual or if you are just looking for something different, Strange Medicine is for you.
My Thoughts
Do you like puzzles? Philosophy? Questions about life, the universe and everything? Well, than this book is for you!
Now comes the tough part. Trying to put this book into words. These stories won’t be for everyone. They are weird and profound and full of meaning. Who hasn’t wanted to hasn’t wanted to take on the universe? Or, fly away? Or, prove that the invisible can’t have substance? There are so many nuances to this novel, that even thought they’re short stories, they deserve proper attention.
Unfortunately, to give too much away would ruin what you take from these stories. But, anyone who reads them needs to contact me to talk them through. An amazing book club read, for sure!

Strange Medicine is Best Served with “Just What the Doctor Ordered”
I mean, what better medicine than “Just what the Doctor Ordered”? I got this idea from Guy Fieri on the Food Network.
Ingredients
- Beer (A lager is probably best. I went with a Lock Street Brewing Company Pilsner)
- 1/2 shot Ameretto
- 1/2 shot high alcohol Rum (Bacardi 151 was suggested, I went with Sea Wynde)
Directions
- Pour the beer
- Add 1/2 Amaretto to a shot glass
- Pour 1/2 shot high alcohol Rum over the back of a spoon into same shot glass
- Light on fire
- Drop flaming shot into beer
- CHEERS!!
The book sounds intruiging and the drink looks bonkers 😀

If you like strange… And, in a good way, I know a lot of people don’t (well, do… But, wouldn’t read) my bizarro reviews. This is not bizarro!! It’s very interesting, and thought provoking and amazing. It’s simple stories with a very complex message…. Man. I say things in comments sometimes and I thing “why didn’t I say that in my review!!??” 😈😅

The book sounds fascinating. I just ordered it from Amazon and I’ll let you know once I’ve read it and we can have a online book club discussion. The drink, on the other hand, looks horrifying! But then I have terrible memories of the worst hangover of my life doing boilermakers so anything involving a beer and a shot makes me shudder in horrified memory.
