  1. Going in, I have only heard ‘Soft Cell’. I had always loved their version, however, I had never seen the video. Marilyn and Imelda are both new to me.

Soft Cell: Oh my God! That shit is borderline child porn. That prissy ass little swish was wearing almost as much make-up as Marilyn Manson. I would use Marilyn Manson Day Care services before I would leave a child with that pervo. Quit prancing around in that little mini-skirt! It is making me uncomfortable.

Marilyn Manson: Groovy car, brah. Looks like a ’67 Lincoln Continental with those suicide doors. Crazy party scene, with lots of action and actresses and stuff. I think I recognized the blond cheerleader as a cast member of ‘Nip/Tuck’. The performance is standard Marilyn cover band style. Are all his hits covers?

Imelda May: She was good! I liked her curve enhancing dress, the retro hair and make-up, but most of all, I loved her crazy way of singing. Some strange dialect or accent was at work. I liked all the old-timers in the band.

Odd, I usually hate at least one version of the songs offered, but I actually enjoyed all three entries today.

    Three Way Tie!!!
    -Soft Cell- Best arrangement
-Marilyn Manson – Best produced and most entertaining video
    -Imelda May – Best performance

But because I like Nicole, I will narrow it down to one. Miss Imelda May for the BIG win.

    1. YAY!!! You know me, that was my contribution because of the vintage factor. I love a girl going vintage!!
I would ALSO rather leave a child with Marilyn rather than Soft Cell!! But, that’s also because the man is a genius. I can’t fault him on figuring out what markets well and going for he. He has way more money than me, so how can I criticize?? Lol!
Thanks for the weigh in, Icky. I always love your replies!! 🥰🍻

  2. Oeh great choice for a battle 😀 and a tricky one

I’ve always loved the dopey feel of 80s music

I love the unhinged feel of Marilyn Manson’s version

And I just plain love Imelda May. Her version is a bit boring though

So do I go for the insanity of the 80s or the insanity of Manson. Choices choices… Can i be annoying and go for the 60s one by GLoria Jones? I LOVE that one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJKe2j9Wjh4

And may I suggest a match for another day: I was made for loving you. And add Kiss, and the Maria Mena version

    1. Ha ha ha!!! Gloria Jones was actually on the first Who Did it Better I apparently did for this song! Fraggle pointed out that I did it before… Although, it was like 2 years ago! Who can remember that long ago?? … Except, apparently, Fraggle. 😅 It’s been a fun one though since there are new people on my blog and it seems like it’s going to probably be a different winner this time! Unfortunately a family member’s impending death is keeping me from my blog at the moment…
But, I’ll add I was made for loving you to my list for sure! And, tune in to see who wins this one!
