Synopsis
Teen twin brothers Evan and Simon Resnik are fiercely loyal to each other and share an unusual bond—they experience each other’s emotions as their own and can sense where the other is.
On their dying planet of Tage, scientists work tirelessly on its survival. Like the twins’ parents, Simon is a science prodigy, recruited at a young age to work with the brilliant creator of Scientific Innovations. To the bitter disappointment of their parents, Evan shows no aptitude or interest in science. As a Mindbender, he travels into the minds of scientists to locate buried memories, connect ideas and concepts, and battle recurring nightmares.
When Simon mysteriously disappears, Evan is plunged into a world of loss and unbearable guilt. For the first time, he can’t ‘feel’ Simon—it’s like he no longer exists. Evan blames himself. No one knows that he ignored his brother’s pleas for help on the night he went missing.
A year later, Simon is still gone. Evan lost his twin, but Tage might have lost its last hope of survival when it’s discovered that Simon’s unfinished project could be its salvation. Evan is determined to find him—somewhere—and bring Simon home. Their unusual connection might be more extraordinary than they know, and the key to locating Simon.
My Thoughts
Twins that are so different, Evan, the jock of the family who is strong and assertive and a born leader, and Simon, who was always the mother nerd, the geeky smart one who got an apprenticeship at a prestigious lad who would rather stay in the lab forever, than socialize with the outside world.
I’ve always been fascinated with twins and the connection they have with each other. When Simon goes missing (disappearing from an empty room), Evan will not give up looking for him. He knows that if his brother was dead he would have felt it. Do twins really have this kind of connection?
I enjoyed the characters, although, you still get your silly romance that is just so obvious to everyone except for one of the people involved. In this case, Evan. Dude, Syd likes you!! She gave you a hug “tangling her hands through your hair” and then pulled back a little to look you in the eyes… Come on! But, of course he thinks “well, we’re partners so that must be it. Something feels different, but I don’t know what…”. Maybe it’s the flashing sign that says “KISS ME, YOU FOOL!” over her head??
I also loved Simon’s romance. It was sweet, and well done (I’m not going to spoil who the love interest is!)
I lived that the story flipped from past to present and changed POV from Simon in the past, to Evan in present. It kept things interesting learning more about each twins personality and interests, while working up to Simon’s disappearance and what actually happened.
I do wish that there was a little more Minbending!
“Syd and I were Mindbenders at Scientific Innovations. With permission from our clients, we entered their minds for various reasons. Sometimes our mission was to locate important memories buried deeply in their subconscious, other times to assist in pulling their swirling thoughts or ideas into a cohesive concept that could help Tage, our dying planet . Occasionally, as was the case with this latest mission, it was to obstruct recurring nightmares that interfered with a client’s health or well-being. Continuously disrupted sleep caused increased stress, irritability, lack of focus, and, depending on the client’s job, could potentially affect millions of lives.”
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a great sci-fi YA read!!

Have any of you ever had, or heard of someone having a twin experience? A Connection? Let me know in the Comments!
The Gemini Connection is Best Served with a Gemini Cocktail
I unfortunately couldn’t get St. Germain liqueur in time for this one! I’ll post a picture of my own in the next couple of days!! But I found this recipe through Martha Stewart
I have to give them the credit for this photo as well!
Ingreditents
- 4 ounces fresh grapefruit juice, strained
- 3 ounces St-Germain liqueur
- 2 ounces vodka
- Ice cubes
- Prosecco
- 2 grapefruit-rind twists
Directions
- Mix grapefruit juice, St-Germain, vodka, and ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into 2 chilled glasses. Top with Prosecco.

Hey, sometimes it’s just too hard to believe in the love. Lol. But yeah… that kinda hug should have been a giveaway! 😃

I don’t usually tangle my hands in someone’s hair and gaze into their eyes when I hug them, unless I’m expecting a little more!! 😂😂 (now I really want to meet you and Shalini and hug you in a super awkward, intimate way when we meet just to prove myself wrong. 😂😂😂)

I agree – and most people would have picked up on it, but teenage boys can be pretty clueless sometimes, lol!

I should really, really stop reading yours and Kim’s posts. But of course you both know that I won’t so my to read list is growing ever faster into a to read encylopedia. Thanks for that. Of course I am totally kidding here, as I love reading these posts. Sounds like another definite winner and the premise sounds amazing. Wonderful post as always 😊

I loved the aspect of the “mindbending” people who can go into your mind to seek out information you’ve lost and nightmares that are plaguing you! Both of the twin bothers were very well written and I loved the differences in their personalities! Definitely a winner! 💖

I’m not even calling my TBR a list anymore: it’s become more of an encyclopedia lol 😊 But the plus side of that is I will always have a lot of choices to make 😀

I’ve always been fascinated by twins also. I wonder if the bond goes beyond really close siblings.
I mean I only really get my information from Host Club and that is probably not the greatest haha! But they were my favorite.

My interest in the twin bond is one of the things that got me started with this book, Kimchisama. Some of the stories I read about them were fascinating.

I have this book on my kindle, Nicole, and can’t wait to get into it. Teri writes great teenagers. I’m also fascinated by twins and the plot sounds like it kept your attention. Your descriptions of the romance(s) made me laugh. Congrats to Teri on the awesome review. 🙂

It definitely kept my interest, and I love how the twins were written. They were definitely teenagers, but I loved their differences! Teri deserves great reviews! 😀

I definitely enjoyed the characters and the mindbending! I also really liked the changing points of view between one twin in the past and one in the present coming together to explain the story. 😀

Got to admit that the bond between twins is quite fascinating. Would really be cool if there was a psychic connection, but would probably also be super freaky/annoying for them too haahha Great review! 😀
