Hello everyone!!!

I’m so sorry that it’s been a rather silent time. Life has been a little crazy with businesses re-opening in my neck of the woods, so I had a lot of work to do to make sure that I was opening in a safe and responsible way.

But…. I’M BACK!!! Reviews incoming (probably A LOT of them), and other fun adventures!!

I am Nicole and I am an avid reader and an alcohol connoisseur.. which it totally different from an alcoholic.. I swear. I am trying to get into the editing world and in doing so I learned that giving my opinions and networking in as many forms of media as I could is the way to get heard! I will warn anyone who joins me here that you will get a very eclectic range of books as I will read anything from Rom Coms, sci-fi, and fantasy to Bizzaro, Steampunk and Biographies, whatever pairs with an interesting drink! I will also say that I am very honest and I will not pander to the popular or feel the need to give a good review just because I got an ARC read of a certain book. I believe that everyone deserves the truth no matter how much it hurts.. EVEN ME! I would love everyone’s opinions! AND LET THE DRINKS FLOW!! (Let’s just not have the drinks make the honesty get TOO out of hand!) ;p

    David Bowie vs. the Wallflowers with ‘Heroes’. I could not remember how I voted, so I went back and looked.
    Oh, yeah, I gave a pretty tasty opinion.

    I grew up in a household where ‘The Andrews Sisters’ were often played. For a long time, their playing this song has been a big fave. They have a heavy home field advantage going in, but I will give the Sardines and the Neutrinos a chance…

    Also, big thank you to Nicole for pulling out a Yiddish pop favorite!

    The Andrew Sisters:
    I loved this version of the song as much as I ever did .I like the feeling in her voice and the slower pace. I think it works better for the song. I did not care for the slideshow. I found it distracting and detracted from the song.

    The Hot Sardines
    Modern and over-produced.
    She is cute, and I like her singing, but I hate the cutie-pie looks from the band, especially the trendy beard bass player. I do not think the faster pace/rave-up works for this song.

    Flying Neutrinos
    This version had the advantage of being a still image. This allowed us to hear the woman’s voice and the instruments. They were good, and I liked it a lot better than the Sardines, but it was still too fast of a pace.

    Despite the disadvantage of that goofy slideshow, the Andrews Sisters easily pull in a big win! Congratulations, girls!

      1. I am taking lots of acting classes. I am on a big Shakespeare kick. I had not ever had any contact with Shakespeare before, but I am finding that I have a knack and a love for it. Who knew?
        Uh oh, a review might be coming, hunh? I hope you picked one of the good books!

      2. … Shakespeare, huh? I could never do it. Lmao!! After all my schooling with people shoving Shakespeare down my throat and telling me what I should think that he was thinking, and dissecting his work like a frog in formaldehyde…. I’ve been soured on Shakespeare. One day, I hope to re-read some things and form my own thoughts and opinions.

  2. I had not heard this song ever until today, and this may be the last time I ever do.

    The Andrews Sisters, ~ too slow and plodding ~ sounds old and tired, slideshow is pig-awful

    Hot Sardines, ~ sassy and classy and full of pzazz and a fun video to go with it. (Also it’s not overproduced at all, you wanna hear ABC’s All of My heart if you really want over produced and it’s GLORIOUS!)

      2. It was fun trying to figure out how to re-open my brewery since they don’t have any concrete regulations… It’s all a guessing game on how to make people safe, but still welcome. But, it’s been fabulous to see people again!!

      4. OF COURSE!! I’m just catching up on things since Stage 3 was thrown at me as soon as I said I would be back. Lmao!! We have masks, optional gloves, a low bleach solution bin for people to place their glasses in to protect them and my staff…. I’m doing as much as I can to protect my staff and patrons, without getting to the point of making people uncomfortable…. It’s a really tough balance, and a learning experience for all of us! 😅
