2 out of 5 Stars
First, I am going to apologize for the following crappy screenshots…. and by “screenshots” I mean I LITERALLY took pictures of my computer screen as I could only get this manga in PDF format and couldn’t properly show it off. Ha ha!
*For all of you first time manga readers out there, in my awful screenshots you want to read the dialog from right to left.*
On a flight back home, geology student Rai catches a glimpse of Lyronaz. Determined to find an explanation to what he saw, Rai begins an intensive research to find the mysterious floating kingdom. Meanwhile in Lyronaz, Moria discovers her father’s involvement in the Queen’s murder.
Any manga that starts in Canada of all places SHOULD be at the top of my love list!
Alas…. this was not the case.
The illustration style was nice and clean, but the dialog and story? Yikes…
Apparently, someone’s friend dying two days ago is NOT a valid reason to interrupt a Geology lecture, just in case you were wondering!
All of the dialog was very wooden, and although I did not read the first instalment of this series, I didn’t feel that I missed so much as to be pandered to and talked at like a child.
In general, this manga just fell flat.
Ocean of Secrets 2 is Best Served with
an Ice Cream Float
Well, the land that Rai finds is floating in the sky….. get is FLOATing?? Plus I needed something sweet and fizzy after a flat read.
- Add Scoop of ice cream to glass (feel free to choose your own flavour, I just went with plain old vanilla!)
- Top with alcoholic “pop” of your choice (feel free to go non-alcoholic as well, of course!) There is pretty much every flavour of alcoholic “pop” out there now! Orange, root beer, cream soda, grape, lime rickey, cherry, the choices are endless!!) I went with black cherry (because it was in my fridge!)
