Let the 24 hr Reading Challenge Begin!!

Hello Everyone!!

I stole this idea from over at Lili’s Blissful Pages where she and Noriko at Diary of a Book Fiend  have a 24 hour reading challenge on the last weekend of every month!

I am SO BACKLOGGED with books that I need to get to (so sorry to any authors out there wondering what’s taking so long!) I figured that I would take up the gauntlet and try this challenge in the hopes at clearing a few titles off my list!

My challenge will start 6am on Wednesday November 7th EST and will end at 6am Thursday November 8th.

The books that I’m going to try to get through are:

the things we learn when we're dead

Because I’m a horrible human being, and SO BEHIND!! (Sorry Jay!) Check out the synopsis HERE!

I’ve planned out all my meals (everything pre-made and able to be eaten one handed!)

Pizza, Shrimp pasta and veggies and hummus all ready to go!! All one handed eats!!!

And I’m ready to go! ….Let’s see how much this old body can take! Ha ha! Also, you may not get any comments or like from me tomorrow. I’m checking out from the social media world for 24 hrs as well!!

Catch you on the flip side… CHEERS!!

  1. I’ve been meaning to do one of these, but I just can’t find a 24 hour block where I’m completely free just to read. I’m either at work or running errands and taking care of my fur babies when I’m home LOL.

    Good Luck!!!

Maybe on my next day off I’ll try to do this =)

    1. I never had time either!! This is going to be tough because I get distracted REALLY EASILY!! 😅 My man will be on a 24 hr shift, so I picked this day purposely because HE won’t be there to distract me… My fur baby will though. And, believe me… He an be QUITE the distraction… Between my need for sleep in my old age. 😉 And my fur baby… We’ll see how I do!

      1. Awww, sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun though. And I know what you mean about being distracted by fur babies. I have two and one of them is still a puppy. Every time I sit down to read, she comes looking for me wanting to play and I just can’t say no. And by the time she falls asleep, I’m already tired, so I have like 30min to an hour reading time before bed.

I can’t wait to read your update when you come back! =)

    1. I’m thinking I’ll stick to Irish cream in my coffee for this one!! (although, I’ll bet you by about 3pm I’ll have changed my tune and will have a beer or cider in front of me… Those damned booze elves won’t let me go sober for long!! We’ll see what happens as I chronicle my adventure…. Or my spectacular failure! 😉😂😂🍻)

    1. Here’s hoping!! 🤞🤞 I can’t believe that it’s taken me so long…. Sigh. I feel like the last few months just got away from me somehow… I hope some sleep depravation will help me along a bit!! 😘😅

      1. Eh… I thought things were settling… And everything has just been turned upside down. I got my marks back for the last portion of my schooling (they were not good…) and I have just been offered a promotion at work… Which would mean back to managing and full time. Sigh. More changes and hard decisions. 😕

      2. Yikes! You do have a lot going on. I went back to school when I was in my mid-twenties and I remember how difficult it was juggling classes with my full time job. But when graduation day came it was completely worth it. All you can do is to do your best and try not to beat yourself up. I realize the promotion puts you in even more of a tough position, but I have to say congratulations anyway.🤗

      3. Well, I’m in my mid THIRTIES. lol!! So, I feel even more lost. I hate this online stuff as well. Why am I paying $700 to post bullshit on an online forum, read a book and write an essay??…. I pretty much do that every day in my blog as it is… It’s different when I pay that sort of money and I get a facility, lectures, seminars, the time and access to an actual TA and prof.. Why am I paying the same amount to teach myself?? 🤔

      4. It defintitely is… I’m just trying not to do what I did all those years ago and give up because I get an opportunity to work full-time… That’s how I wasted 14 years to begin with!! (but, at the same time… I ENJOY working. It’s hard not to!)

  3. Haha…I wish I could do this, I really wish I could….but I know that I would never be able to do that. I used to stay awake watching the Oscars each year, but the past few years my body just says: “ Nope….we are not going to do that anymore son….😂😂” Either way…Good luck! Seems like you have a lot of fun books lined up! 😊😊 I have heard so many good things about Father Figure (and the author in general) Have fun! 😊😘

      1. Lol: I wish I was there with one of those big microphones urging you on and shouting to keep you awake lol😂😂😂 But then again…that would be really distracting 😂😂😂 So..I think your plan is better: and I KNOW you can do this: have fun!!😘

      2. Haha😂😂 Well these days I tend to wake up at the craziest times at night: so…be sure to call: you never know I might just wake up in full sleep drunk mode😂😂😂😂 (Which come to think of it probably isn’t very motivational🤔🤔😂😂😂).

      1. So how strict are you? Are you allowed to do other stuff for a while without a book in your hand? XD Because a friend of mine did this and she took her book into the bathroom with her and everything…

      2. Hm. Well, since my phone is my book for some of them, I don’t know how I feel about having it in the bathroom. 😂🚽… Maybe I’ll just have to pee really quickly. 🤔 But, I planned one handed pre-make meals so at all other moments I will NOT be without a book in my hand! 😅

  4. Good luck on your readathon!!! Have fun ❤ I love that you pre-made all your food and made it easy to eat one handed 😂😂 That is awesome!

I need to read Jay's books still too! I think I own all of them I just haven't gotten to reading them! I love his blog and feel bad I haven't read his books yet!!

    1. Well, I can now HIGHLY RECOMMEND “Father Figure”!! It actually took me a little longer than I hoped to read because I kept stopping to make notes in a draft so I wouldn’t forget everything I wanted to say about it in my review!! I’m review for it will be up early next week!
