Thank you to Jill at Books N All for having me on the tour today!

Synopsis

When Major Lewis Carpenter arrives home in Haven Falls he’s literally knocked off his feet by his neighbour, Emma. She’s even more gorgeous than he remembers.

That evening, he arrives at her door with a bottle of wine, only to find her armed and ready to repel invaders. After much persuasion, she tells him she’s an angel and the devil has chosen her to be his bride – but she’s not going without a fight.

Lewis, who suffers from PTSD, finds her story about as believable as some of his flashbacks, but is prepared to go along with her until proven otherwise because he’s fantasized about her for years.

What follows is an exciting couple of days involving fights with fallen angels, a kidnapping and a rescue involving a fire truck. All’s fair in love and war, especially if you’re falling in love with an angel.

My Thoughts

I loved the concept of this book! I mean, angel’s, fallen angels, big fights and a Chosen One to sire the child of Satan?? OF COURSE I want to read it!

Well, I did enjoy the story! ….unfortunately, I found the whole thing a little rushed. I wish the book had been longer! It felt almost more like a novella than a full novel, and when the point of the whole book (I thought) was that they are trying to protect this angel because she is a VIRGIN and that is why she was wanted by Satan…. and then by Chapter Two or Three she’s NO LONGER A VIRGIN?? I was a little confused by that point. But, apparently humans don’t count?

I just thought that it was so quick to shove in that insta-love, then she’s already kidnapped, then the book was done, all in the blink of an eye!

The dialogue could also be a little strange and stilted, just somewhat unnatural,

““Sebastian is being an absolute swine. The problem is he tells me I’m still the chosen…”Her mother gasped so she hurried on. “I don’t want to be the Chosen One.” Her mother’s voice rose and broke. “I thought all this ridiculousness would be over once you had found someone to love. Are you telling me you are still a virgin?” “I’m afraid so mother.” “Sometimes you can hold onto something for too long,” said her mother crossly.”

… This just seems like a strange conversation to have with your mother…

If you are okay with insta-love and want a quick YA feeling romance with some angels, this is defintitely one for you!!

I also write Young Adult, short stories and flash fiction; articles on writing and I am published in these genre. I self-published a children’s rhyming book and once won a prize for a short screen script.

I’m a published poet and I endeavour to put my poetry skills into my fiction writing to enhance the word pictures I create.

I live in Paeroa, a small town in New Zealand, with my husband and a black labrador. Most of my books are set in my home town, simply because it has a rich history, and the streets already have names, so do the rivers and the mountain nearby, and the neighbouring towns also have names, so I save time on world building.

I have been writing for seven years. Before that I was a teacher, then a kitchen designer, and for a year, the creator of resources for drug education. But now writing is what I do.

I love creating books about ordinary people doing interesting things. The characters in my story are just a little better looking and more charismatic than in real life, but they think and feel like normal people.

My books cover many genre, action adventure, scifi, historical fiction, and romance. Up until now you won’t find a vampire or werewolf in any them, but in the future, that can’t be completely ruled out.

What??? Nicole….. VIRGIN?! Like….. NO ALCOHOL?!?!?!

Yes.

I have many readers who don’t consume alcohol and, well honestly, the idea of this just made me laugh WAY TOO HARD!! If you would just like to have the alcoholic version, check it out HERE! I have come up with a DERLICIOUS non-alcoholic version, though!

Ingredients

  • 1/2oz Chocolate Syrup
  • 1oz Heavy Cream
  • 1oz Chilled Frappuccino or cappuccino (make it from scratch, use a K-cup, or cheat like me and just pick up a Starbucks chilled Frapp beverage)

Directions

  1. Make your coffee beverage, set aside or put in fridge to chill (I actually cheated a little and just bought a Starbucks chilled Frapp)
  2. Pour chocolate syrup in bottom of glass
  3. Next pour in the cream
  4. Lastly, the coffee beverage (pour this slowly over the rounded back of a spoon)
  5. Stir before drinking
  6. CHEERS!!

    1. That’s ok. I wouldn’t push this one on you. Lol! I’ve made this drunk before, but it was tough thinking of non- alcoholic substitutions since the drink is pretty much ALL ALCOHOL!! 😂😂 It was fun to test out though, and the finished product was SO GOOD!! And I usually don’t like sweet things…. Well, drinks anyways. People are a different story. 😘

  3. No-one says ‘absolute swine’ unless they are English!! It doesn’t work in any other language. 🙄 Now about the virgin thing. Humans don’t count? Does that mean that an angel can boink a human but still be a virgin? What does one have to boink to not be a virgin? A goat? This one sounds a bit daft so I’ll give it a miss, but good review and pathetic drink- needs alcohol. 🙂 Stop pandering to the teetotal heathens woman, they’re no fun at a party 😀 😀

    1. I agree!! But, those teetotalling party poopers are a lot of my reader base…. So, PANDER I SHALL!…. just this once… And only because the idea made me laugh way too hard… 😂😂 Apparently you need to boink a celestial body for Satan to think you’re too slutty for him… Until then…. Boink away!! 😉😂
