Hello Everyone!!

Welcome back to another Music Monday hosted by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek, and my spin on it “Who Did it Better?” Where I pit multiple versions of the same song against each other and get you all to vote on who did the best version!

Now on to this week’s “Who Did it Better?”

“Whiskey in the Jar”

In honour of St.Patrick’s Day, I figured a nice rousing Irish jig would be a great choice! Ha ha!! (Metallica and Thin Lizzy are TOTALLY Irish!)

Metallica

VS

Thin Lizzy

VS

The Dubliners

      1. I keep trying to remind myself that I am too…. But, apparently I have a memory like a goldfish.
Thursday “ugh! What makes me think I can drink until 3am anymore?? I’m NEVER doing that again! I’m too old for this shit!”
Saturday “drinking you say?? Sure, let’s do it!”
        🤣🤣🤣🍻🍻

  1. I have loved that Thin Lizzy version for years, but heard Metallica a couple of months ago and was totally smitten with it. Not sure who The Dubliners are but they sound like a bunch of old age pensioners stuck doing a gig in a care home in 1962. Give it up lads! 😳😊 Yes,so, Metallica please.

  2. The Dubliners did a cute and charming version.

    Mettallica….
Have those wanking assholes done another cover?
Are they going to sue the fans again? Watch out, Nicole, these are some stingy bastards and might demand a cut of the profit you make from this post.
Have fun at your tacky little house party, guys.

Thin Lizzy was awesome, just as expected.
-How about that lead guitar player. Did you see the flared sleeves on that shiny lamei shirt?!? Did you see his rockin’ perm? That dude has been working out, too.
-I also liked that it was a live performance, very early in their careers.
-I understand that the singer is famous for being a pioneer black Irish pop star.

    Thin Lizzy for the win!

    1. Ha ha ha!! I used to love metallica back in the day. I haven’t listened to then in ages!
I do love the thin lizzy version, as well. Thanks for the vote! 😀
P.S. For some reason I didn’t get a notification for this comment before. I almost missed it!

  3. Metallica! That Dubliner version I think I needed to be a little more or shall I say a little less sober to appreciate it? Maybe I’d appreciate after a lot of beers and thinking I was Irish?☘️

  4. Hi Nicole.
    I hope I did not piss you off with my smarty-pants Metallica comment. I was a fan in the eighties. I saw them in ’89. They got too corporate for me, though. {Note the Warner Brothers logo/bug in the corner of the video.}
My Miss Plumtartt was a big fan of them dating back to ’83. She really dug them, so she was really hurt and disappointed when they pulled their stunt in 2000. Here is a link to an article about it if you are not familiar. It contains an animated video parodying the situation.

By the way, I have played the Thin Lizzy video several times. I cannot get over how good it is. The kids are babies. That is a raw, live performance, and they killed it.
